Sarah started taking dance at age 3, competing at age 7 and teaching at age 16. Her first job was teaching jazz to teenagers at my local studio. It was a wonderful experience and solidified that she wanted dance as my career. She received my Bachelor's Degree in dance education from CSU Sacramento with a communications minor and was on the collegiate dance team, performing at all CSUS special events. Sarah taught tap/jazz/ballet to children ages 3-8 at Hawkins School of Performing Arts in Folsom, performed with Sacramento’s Pulse Dance Ensemble and competed nationally with the 720 Collegiate All Star Dance Team. She was honored to be selected as assistant choreographer to Broadway's Ed Brazo, who was the theater teacher at CSUS. She worked with Mr. Brazo to choreograph "Crazy For You" where I was also awarded the role of dance captain. I was employed for several years by the United Spirit Association (USA) where I traveled all over California teaching collegiate, high school and middle school dance summer camps and private camps. I had the opportunity to perform in and direct large special events, choreograph routines for dancers of all ages, and judge many dance auditions and regional/national competitions. Sarah worked with the Bella Vista Dance Team in Fair Oaks for several years, choreographing all of their jazz, lyrical and musical theater competition routines, judging their auditions, and teaching a 0-period dance technique course. I have now been a dance teacher at Rocklin High School for 11 years. With 240 students per year, I have the honor of working with teenagers who are taking dance just for fun (and generally fall in love with it) and also teenagers who have been dancing their whole lives and want to pursue dance in their future. As the Dance Program Director She direct 3 dance shows per year, hold class auditions, choreograph, put on 2 additional co-curricular school performances. After school, I work at Studio 65 Dance Company, instructing students ages 3 to 18 in the areas of jazz, ballet, and tap, while teaching private lessons on the weekends. Sarah is truly living out my childhood dream of having dance in my life forever.
